But WHAT OF ÜOD'S CHURCH? How IS IT ORGANIZED?
lt
is a
spiritual organism - but also it is PHYSICALLY ORGANIZED, as we
shall now see.
The Church is the begotten Family - or household of God
(Eph. 2: 19), "And are built upon the FOUNDATION of the apostles
and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief comer stone"
(Eph. 2:20).
lt
is, continues verse 21, like a "building fit1y framed together
[which] groweth unto an holy TEMPLE in the Lord."
lt
is the TEMPLE to which Christ shall come at His second
coming in GLORY!
lt
is that Body of Christ that is the affianced
BRIDE of Christ, to be married to Him (as the Old Covenant was a
marriage covenant) when He returns.
Ephesians says: " ... Christ also 1oved the church, and gave
himself for it, that he might present it to himse1f a GLORious
CHURCH" (Eph. 5:25-27) in the resurrection!
Of that same marriage, Revelation says: "Alleluia: for the
Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and
give honour to him: for the MARRIAGE of the Lamb [Christ] is
come, and his wife [the resurrected glorified Church] hath made
herself ready" (Rev. 19:6-7).
lt
is not only a SPIRITUAL ORGANISM - it is a well-organized
physica1 ORGANIZATION! Notice 1 Corinthians 12: " ... brethren 1
would not have you ignorant" (1 Cor. 12: 1). "But now are they
many members, YET BUT ONE BODY" (verse 20.)
And it is a well ORGANIZED body (verses 4-6, 11-12): "Now
there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are
dif–
ferences of administrations,
but the same Lord. And there are
di–
versities of operations,
but it is the same God which worketh all in
all ... But all these worketh that one and the se1fsame Spirit, di–
viding to every man severally
as he
wi/1.
For the body is ONE" -
united, organized into cooperative team-work - not scattered in–
dividuals, each claiming to serve God
in his own way!
Continuing: "For ... the body is ONE, and hath many mem–
bers, and all the members ofthat ONE BODY, being many, are ONE
BODY, so also is Christ. For by ONE SPIRIT are we all baptized into
one body ... That there shou1d be no schism [division] in the
body; but that the members shou1d have the same care [that is,
