Peter, John and Jude Expose False Ministers
Peter wrote of these deceivers: "But there were false prophets also
among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among
you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies.... And many
shall follow their pernicious ways;
by reason of whom the way of
truth sha/1 be evil spoken of
And through covetousness shaU they
with feigned words make merchandise ofyou ..." (11 Peter 2: l-3).
John wrote of these same perverters of the true gospel,
denying obedience to the way of God. "He that saith, 1 know him,
and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not
in him" (1 John 2:4). "They went out from us, but they were not of
us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have contin–

this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God
into lasciviousness [license to disobey] .... Likewise also these fil–

the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for re–
ward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. These are spots in
your feasts of charity ... clouds they are without water, carried
about of winds ... twice dead, plucked up by the roots; raging
waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars,
to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever" (Jude 3-4,
The Word "Gospe1" Mis1eading Today
Even the very word "gospel" is misleading today, especially as
used by evangelical Protestants, their missionaries, their evange–
lists and their literature. The world has been, and is, full of "gos–
pel programs" on television, on radio, in print, in personal
