PASTOR GENERAL'S
REPORT
TO THE MINISTRY OF THE
WORLDWIDE CHURCH OF GOD
VOL.7, N0.13
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA
FROM MINISTERIAL SERVICES
MARCH 29, 1985
I am pleased to report that we recently were able to rehire Mr. David Gray,
a local elder and 1975 graduate of Ambassador College in Big Sandy. Mr.
Gray had been laid off in December, 1982 due to a budget crunch while serv-
.
ing in Corpus Christi, Harlingen and Victoria, Texas as assistant pastor to
Mr. Dennis Van Deventer. After the layoff, the Grays moved to Ft. Collins,
Colorado, where Mr. Gray served as a local church elder in the Ft. Collins,
Colorado; Wheatland, Wyoming; and Scottsbluff, Nebraska congp:egations, as
sisting Mr. Chuck Zimmerman. Mr. Gray is now serving as a full-time assist
ant pastor to Mr. Zimmerman. Mr. Gray and his wife, Ronnie, a 1973 graduate
of Big Sandy, have two children--Eric, who is six, and Charles, two.
I hope that we will be able to hire a few more assistant pastors in the com
ing months to help relieve the increasing workload in the field. Please
continue to pray that God will give us the increase needed to be able to do
the hiring.
We also had some exciting news regarding one of our student employees here
in Ministerial Services. In the College Forum on Thursday, March 28, it was
announced that the new Student Body President for the 1985-86 school year
will be Paul Bennett. Paul has been working for us for the past several
months and has proven to be quite a valuable asset to the department. We
are very pleased about the new opportunity he will have during the coming
school year.
As Passover is only days away, let each of us as God's ministers really ex
amine ourselves and our commitment to the great responsibility to which God
has called us. As leaders, we have the greater accountability. Let's ask
God for His Spirit to lead us in diligently teaching His people the true
words of eternal life, and setting the example of overcoming in our own
Christian lives.
This week we are including several comments from our fellow ministers in
Australia. As you will see, the highlight during the month of January was
Mr. Waterhouse's visit to the land down under, where he spoke 27 times.
International News
From Mr. Stan Bass On November 4, 1984, the Caribbean Regional Office moved
from the old site in Reparto Metropolitano to a residential area in Punta
Las Marias. It is a very nice office that reminds us of the buildings on
the original campus in Pasadena.
On the 24th of February we held an "open house" for the members of the local
congregation. It was well attended, and everyone went away with a better
idea of what the work of God's Church is like in the English-speaking areas
of the Caribbean. However, the move was not without its problems. Sunday
night, after the open house, we were visited by several pillos or ladrones
(the Spanish words for burglars). They visited us again last night.
