to have many of you pastor two churches rather than one and utilize
our manpower better in this and other ways.
I know that many of
you fellows have not felt as challenged as you would like to be and
will be glad to have the opportunity to serve more and still be in the
Work full-time. And I know your hearts will be in it and you will
come through if you know we are behind you and that we are in a genuine
crusade to revTve God's Church as never before!
So keep up the good work that I know the vast majority of you are
doing, keep in contact with us here at HQ, and we will truly turn this
thing around with God's help and "make lemonade with all of the lemons
that have been thrown."
With Christian love,

FORM LETTER TO FCC
It has come to our attention that the form letter addressed to the
FCC (reproduced in the January 30, 1979 Pastor's Report) is not based
on a legitimate threat to religious broadcasting at this time.
Although it is harmless in the sense that it will simply go to the
mailroom of the FCC and join thousands of other letters being held
tor a limited time (nearly four million"have been received!), never
theless we regret being taken in by this spurious letter which, as
it turns out, has been circulating for several years. The fUll story
behind the letter had not been available to me before that Pastor's
Report was printed and mailed.

PUBLISHING SERVICES UPDATE
Because of the State of California receivership, we are in a time of
financial crisis right now in Publishing and, as with our personal
life in time of financial crises, we need to save money or not spend
as much as we normally do.
Our task then is to re-evaluate our goals in publishing and to see if
there are any areas where we can become more cost-effective. One of
our primary goals is to give the people the gospel message through
The Plain Truth, Good News, and other publications. One of the ways
in which we are doing this is via our Plain Truth newsstand program.
We must at times like this remember that the primary purpose of this
program is to get people to send in a card and subscribe to the maga
zine. By this method we can send a PT every month into their homes
through the mail. This is the first vital step of a carefully planned
program of further exposure to our message leading to a follow-up series
of special mailings of booklets, etc. from the Mail Processing Center's
Subscriber Development Program.
