PASTOR GENERAL'S REPORT, April 11, 1980

matters to seem remote and unrelated to our personal lives and the day
to-day continuance of the Church's Great Commission. But if the state had
its way in every instance we would quickly realize how sweeping and per
vasive their actions against the Work of the Living God would be! There
fore, we must continue to urge the brethren toward vigilance in prayer on
behalf of the Church in this struggle to remain free to finish God's Work.
FROM THE LEGAL OFFICE
I was extremely interested to hear recently that some of the ministers
commenced receiving certain "junk mail" and solicitation from magazines
shortly after the receiver commandeered the confidential ministerial list.
(As you will recall the receiver wrote to ministers around the world
demanding that all the people send their tithes to him.
Inasmuch as it
was quickly determined that he was neither God nor God's representative,
his demands went unheeded.)
The correlation between the unsolicited mail being received and the
commandering of the list makes me suspicious as to whether or not the
list may have been sold to some commercial venture or the confidentiality
of the list breached by distribution to third parties.
Therefore, if you recall receiving an unusual amount of unsolicited mail
sometime after January 1979 would you please so advise me. Also I would
be interested to know, if you recall, the source of the mailings so that
we might be able to do some tracing in the matter.
Your cooperation in this regard would be truly appreciated.

MR. ARMSTRONG'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY TO BE REPRINTED
It has been many years now since we printed Mr. Herbert Armstrong's
Autobiography. In fact, Volumes I and II are at the moment out of print,
which means that they are not available to any new readers. After dis
cussion, it has now been decided to republish Volumes I and II through
Everest House.
The plan is to produce two versions. Both versions will be 6" x 9" in a
new style, but one version will be softback and be offered free of charge
like our regular church publications. The other version will be hardback
and distributed through the book trade for the book-buying public.
We feel it is worth repeating that Mr. Armstrong's books are not being
published commercially to make a profit for the Work; they are being
published to get broader, wider readership which is, in fact, now happen
ing judging by the press coverage we are receiving. We are, at present,
planning for publication of both versions in the Autumn of this year.
